Before Champions Trophy, Bangladesh lost two warm up matches against Pakistan and India. Bangladesh batting was disappointed against India where Bangladesh got all out for 84 runs. So, Bangladesh head coach Chandika Haturusingha was concerned about batting. As a consequence, Haturusingha and team management kept eight batsmen in the opening match of Champions Trophy against England. But Bangladesh felt a shortage of genuine bowler who could take the wickets. Though Mashrafe likes to take five bowlers in ODI and T20I format, India’s warm up match put down a pressure for batting to Bangladesh team.
It is right point for Bangladesh as Tamim’s century [128 runs off 142 balls] and Mushfiqur’s contribution [79 runs off 72 balls] helped Bangladesh team score 305 runs, but England’s Joe Root’s century [133 runs off 129 balls], Alex Hales’s power of 95 runs off 86 balls and captain Morgan’s unbeaten 75 runs off 61 balls have made the target easy to chase.
Bangladesh team now want to win over Australia and New Zealand. If Bangladesh win over Australia and New Zealand, Bangladesh will play Semi Final for the first time in any ICC biggest events. It’s tough but not impossible. Mashrafe and his co-mates know it better.
